A State of Matters

Once upon a somewhere else
Before the clocks had second hands
Hours passed by unseen by eyes
A universe of rubber bands

The way of life just bounced along
There was music in the twang
That stretched a range of vocal chords
You can imagine how they sang

Yet sing they did symphonically
With much inventiveness they skipped
Using words that came from anywhere
Elastic strained until they ripped

Torn apart they scattered far away
Unshackled from the tautly pull
To spring anew to fresher magnitudes
In theatre houses far from full
